Cointelegraph reports that the Sui project announced on its official Twitter that the mainnet will be integrating a consensus algorithm based on directed acyclic graphs (DAG) named Mysticeti. The integration is planned to occur in phases over the coming weeks, with the objective of significantly improving the network's performance and efficiency. According to the official statement, the Mysticeti algorithm reduced the consensus time on the testnet to 390 milliseconds and the final settlement time to 640 milliseconds, a 80% reduction compared to the Narwhal-Bullshark algorithm previously used. Notably, one of the unique features of the Mysticeti algorithm is its ability to decouple latency from throughput, maintaining high throughput even when network and node failures occur. Moreover, the algorithm simplifies the validator's workflow by allowing them to sign and share blocks without certification. It employs a dynamic leadership appointment rule where multiple leaders are elected during each cycle, which allows more transactions to be processed faster and increases the overall network transaction speed and stability.
