In the latest security update on August 1, Astroport announced measures taken in response to the ASTRO theft incident that occurred on the Neutron platform. Through swift action, Astroport successfully transferred the stolen ASTRO assets from the attacker's account on the platform to its internal treasury, effectively preventing these assets from circulating in the broader market. Additionally, Astroport blacklisted the Terra address of the attacker, prohibiting any transaction activities to prevent further potential risks. Notably, the IBC Hook vulnerability exposed during this event has been promptly fixed, ensuring effective prevention of similar risks in the future. Initial estimates show that the attacker stole approximately 58 million ASTRO tokens, with part of these assets transferred outside the Neutron platform. To further track these transferred assets, the attacker had exchanged around 13 million ASTRO for an equivalent amount of axlUSDC and transferred them to a specific address on the Ethereum network. Meanwhile, the roughly 20 million ASTRO remaining on the Terra chain have been blacklisted and cannot be moved. Astroport officials stated they will continue to work closely with the Terra team to jointly seek solutions. Astroport contributors are expected to publish a detailed incident report later this week, outlining the entire process of this event and subsequent response strategies.
