In the latest released proposal, AltLayer has put forth a new method for building a stateless Rollup client utilizing an alternative data access layer. This design is aimed at addressing the challenges currently faced by Rollup technology, by ensuring that Rollup blocks are published on the underlying data access layer and that relevant states are committed in the Rollup contract after transaction execution. This approach aims to achieve more efficient and secure blockchain scalability solutions. The design of a stateless client means that validators do not need to store the entire blockchain history, only validating the data of the current block, which significantly reduces node storage requirements and operational costs, while also improving the system's overall performance and scalability.
