Probability of Fed rate cut in September hikes to 80%

In recent times, market anticipation for a rate cut by the Fed has been on the rise, especially concerning their meeting in September. As per the CME “FedWatch” tool, there is now a 78% chance that the Fed will reduce interest rates by 25 basis points at its September meeting, a significant increase from previous estimates. Additionally, the probability of a 50 basis point cut stands at 22%, indicating heightened market expectations for a more aggressive easing policy in the short term. Regarding the Fed's future policy trajectory over the next few months, the market anticipates various levels of potential rate cuts. Considering cumulative cuts, there's a 29.1% probability of a total reduction of 50 basis points by November, and a 57.1% probability of a cumulative cut of 75 basis points. However, the probability of a cumulative cut of 100 basis points remains relatively low at 13.8%. These data fluctuations reflect the market's keen attention and analysis of global economic conditions and the Fed's monetary policy direction.
