Security firm PeckShieldAlert has observed that wallets associated with Rain Exchange hackers have started employing Tornado Cash for Ethereum (ETH) laundering operations. This behavior indicates that the hackers are attempting to obfuscate the source and path of funds to avoid detection and penalties. Tornado Cash, as an anonymity enhancement tool on the Ethereum network, allows users to mix cryptocurrencies to increase their privacy. Yet, it is also misused as part of money laundering activities, offering cover for ill-gotten gains. This finding underscores the intricate and pressing nature of anti-money laundering challenges within the cryptocurrency market.
