On August 7th, Solana validator Laine disclosed the details of this confidential process. It is said that the Solana Foundation, in conjunction with prominent network operators, engaged in private communications to develop a secret patch strategy. The patch was released by Anza engineers on the GitHub repository, enabling operators to independently validate and apply the changes. By UTC time 14:00 on August 8th, a comprehensive guide for implementing the patch was sent to all relevant parties, resulting in protection of 66.6% of the network's voting power. The vulnerability was only made public after more than 70% of the nodes in the network had completed the installation of the patch.
