In an interview, asset manager Bryan Courchesne mentioned the possibility of the US government contemplating Bitcoin as one of its strategic reserve assets. This argument is mainly based on the 200,000 Bitcoins held by the US Department of Justice, which theoretically could be transferred to the Treasury for long-term holding and accumulation. However, this prospect has not gained widespread acceptance. Ari Paul, founder of BlockTower Capital, questioned this view, stating that the likelihood of the US adopting Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset within the next four years is relatively low. Paul's perspective highlights the complexity of Bitcoin as a new digital currency and the potential challenges it poses in governmental decision-making. Despite the growing interest in cryptocurrencies from the market, traditional financial institutions and policymakers remain cautious about incorporating them into their national asset portfolios.
