A 39-year-old Australian man, Jatinder Singh, was convicted of theft and sentenced to three years in prison for receiving $44 million dollars from Crypto.com due to an accounting error. In May 2021, Singh attempted to deposit $65 into his partner's bank account and then transfer it to their Crypto.com account, but the transaction was rejected due to a mismatched name. The account was mistakenly refunded with $10.47 million (approximately $6.8 million) due to a significant accounting mistake by an employee. Singh then transferred this sum to the joint account of the couple and made substantial purchases.
