According to a document released on August 13, the electronic trading platform Arca of the New York Stock Exchange has withdrawn its rule change request submitted in January. This request aimed to allow commodity trust option trading, covering cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The initial goal was to permit the listing and trading of commodity trust share options after the rule change. Notably, in a letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on February 28, Grayscale Investments mentioned that the rule change would include options for cryptocurrency ETFs such as the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC). Grayscale Investments had called on the SEC to update its 'outdated patchwork approval process' to approve options on ETPs based on spot commodities, including GBTC options at the exchange. However, this withdrawal is the latest in a series of sudden moves related to the listing of spot cryptocurrency ETF options.
