Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the CEO of Iran's state-owned power company Tavanir, stated that due to recent soaring temperatures in some parts of Iran reaching up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius), the power grid has been under tremendous pressure. In this context, he claimed that around 230,000 devices used by illegal cryptocurrency miners have been identified, consuming as much as 900 megawatts of electricity, equivalent to the power consumption of a province with 1.4 million residents in Iran. The actions of cryptocurrency miners have exacerbated an already strained power grid situation. To address this issue and encourage public participation in combating illegal cryptocurrency mining activities, Mashhadi further announced: 'Individuals who report unauthorized cryptocurrency mining equipment will receive a bounty of 1 million tomans (approximately $24). ' This measure aims to incentivize the public through economic means to actively participate in protecting the power grid and conserving energy.
