Yixing Police successfully cracked down on a theft case targeting virtual currencies. The suspect illegally obtained access rights to others' wallets through illegal means and stole virtual currencies worth over 9 million yuan. This case reveals the potential security risks in the virtual currency market. After an in-depth investigation, the police discovered that the suspect, Wang Shao, conspired with others to create a website masquerading as a blockchain project, thereby obtaining management rights to victim Pan's virtual currency wallet. After gaining access, Wang transferred 130,000 virtual currencies from Pan's account to his bank card, causing Pan to suffer significant financial loss. Recently, Yixing Procuratorate filed a lawsuit in accordance with the law, and the court, based on relevant laws, sentenced the defendant Wang Shao to 11 years in prison and imposed corresponding fines for the crime of theft. This ruling aims to warn the public to pay attention to protecting their personal virtual property safety and impose severe punishment on criminal acts.
