Russia Plans to Launch Cross-border Digital Ruble Payment System by 2026

According to Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the Financial Market Committee of the Russian State Duma, Russia plans to achieve the goal of using digital rubles for universal international settlements by 2026. This move aims to promote the development of the country's digital currency and enhance the efficiency of cross-border payments. Aksakov pointed out that by 2025, authorities are expected to expand the current pilot projects and implement more transactions based on digital rubles within Russia. Subsequently, these functions will be further promoted and tested domestically and internationally to ensure the widespread use of digital rubles on a global scale. This plan reflects Russia's emphasis on digital currency technology and its strategic layout in the global financial system.
