On July 23rd, Avail announced the launch of its data availability mainnet, Avail DA, along with the native AVAIL token. The AVAIL token is used to pay for data availability-related fees and ensures network security through staking mechanisms. The project aims to improve data availability, thereby supporting developers in creating more efficient and economical blockchain platforms. The total supply of AVAIL is 10 billion tokens, with 60 million already distributed to eligible participants via an airdrop. The Avail project is led by Anurag Arjun, a co-founder of Polygon, and plans to further develop the interoperability layer Nexus and the secure network layer Fusion to enhance its influence in the blockchain sector.
