On August 19th, the founder of eOracle, Matan Sibon, raised doubts about a recent report by CoinDesk. In an article, he pointed out that CoinDesk’s Deputy Editor Sam Kessler attempted to steer the conversation towards questioning whether the Eigen Labs team had ever pressured ecosystem projects into conducting token airdrops. Despite Matan repeatedly denying this and explaining his understanding of the ecosystem where Altlayer, Renzo, Ether.fi, etc., would not feel pressured, these responses did not appear in CoinDesk’s report. Matan emphasized that acknowledging conflicts of interest is necessary, but allegations of the team abusing power to pressure other projects for profit require sufficient evidence. Previously, CoinDesk reported that Eigen Labs employees distributed wallet addresses to ecosystem project parties, benefiting from airdrops. Eigen Layer responded that there has been no evidence or discovery of EigenLabs' employees exerting undue pressure on any team to unjustly benefit Eigen Labs or its employees.
