On August 14th, cybersecurity firm Mandiant released a report stating that there is no evidence to suggest that the three laptops used for signing transactions were compromised in the recent $230 million cyber attack on WazirX. Although the detailed investigation report has yet to be made public, preliminary findings suggest that the main cause of this cyber attack might be related to Liminal, a digital asset custodial and wallet infrastructure service. The wallet that was attacked was using Liminal’s services for management. A spokesperson for WazirX stated that the platform fully trusts the investigating agency and is committed to cooperating with the investigation. At the same time, it is actively taking measures to recover stolen funds and is dedicated to bringing criminals to justice.
