Two Brothers to Stand Trial for Allegedly Stealing $25 Million in Cryptocurrency Using MEV Bots

Brothers Anton and James Peraire-Bueno are set to stand trial on October 14, 2025, at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. They are accused of conspiring to commit telecommunication fraud and money laundering by allegedly stealing $25 million in cryptocurrency using Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) bots. According to the Department of Justice, the brothers illegally acquired cryptocurrency within just 12 seconds and hid their assets through shell companies and foreign exchanges. Both have been released on bail of $250,000 each and are subject to travel restrictions. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison for each charge.
