According to the latest market size report from Crypto.com, the number of holders in the global cryptocurrency market significantly increased in the first half of this year. By June, the total number of holders had grown from 580 million at the end of 2023 to 617 million, marking a growth rate of 6.4%. This substantial growth can be attributed mainly to advancements in the Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems, particularly with the introduction of spot ETFs, which played a crucial role in driving this growth. Bitcoin remains the dominant force in the market, with its holder count increasing by 5.9% to 314 million by mid-year, accounting for 51% of all cryptocurrency holders. Meanwhile, Ethereum's adoption rate grew by 9.7%, bringing the total number of owners to 136 million, representing 22% of the global market. The report points out that two major events contributed to the increase in Bitcoin's adoption: the launch of a spot Bitcoin ETF in the U.S., and the fourth halving event of Bitcoin in April.
