CKB has announced the launch of the next-generation public Lightning Network, Fiber Network, which is set to go live and commence testing next week. Fiber Network is a system built on Nervos CKB and off-chain channels, specifically designed to offer efficient, cost-effective, and decentralized multi-currency payments and peer-to-peer transactions for RGB++ assets. Similar to the Bitcoin Lightning Network, Fiber Network enhances speed and reduces costs by executing transactions off-chain while maintaining the security and decentralization of the blockchain. The network supports multiple assets beyond the native CKB token and can also accommodate any RGB++ asset. The core architecture of Fiber Network includes key components such as off-chain payment channels, on-chain contracts, multi-hop routing, and monitoring services. Currently, Fiber Network has completed its prototype design, validating its foundational functionality of creating, updating, and closing channels between two nodes, and has confirmed its capability for cross-chain operations with the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
