The U.S. House Committee on Financial Services recently announced plans to hold multiple hearings in September focused on exploring issues related to cryptocurrency. These meetings will cover several key topics: the development of decentralized finance (DeFi), the regulatory policies of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the crypto space, and the potential impact of 'pig-butchering' scams. The first hearing on September 10 will specifically address the development and challenges in the DeFi sector; the meeting on September 18 will concentrate on the SEC's enforcement actions and its role in preventing 'pig-butchering' scams; and the full committee hearing on September 23 will feature testimony from the SEC, with a focus on how to effectively regulate digital assets to protect investors' rights and promote healthy market development. Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry stated that he hopes to complete comprehensive cryptocurrency legislation by the end of the year to address the changing market environment and regulatory needs.
