Roger Lee, the Head of Product Development at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, stated that Hong Kong currently offers ten virtual asset ETPs, including Asia's first six virtual asset spot ETFs (launched in April) and three virtual asset futures ETFs (listed respectively by the end of 2022 and early 2023). By the end of July, the market capitalization of Hong Kong's virtual asset ETPs surpassed HK$3.6 billion, indicating the interest of investors and demand for such products, suggesting a promising growth outlook for the sector. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's thematic ETF market is also growing steadily. This year, as ETFs focusing on various themes such as Artificial Intelligence, Automation, Digital Payments, and Web3 have been introduced, the average daily trading volume of thematic ETFs has increased to over HK$2 billion, with assets under management reaching HK$63.3 billion by the end of July.
