Lawyer John Deaton, who supports cryptocurrency, successfully won the Republican primary for Senate in Massachusetts. He will compete against Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren in the November election. Deaton received 64% of the votes on September 4th, defeating two other Republican candidates. Notably, his campaign has received broad support from the crypto industry, including the Winklevoss brothers and executives at Ripple. Additionally, the crypto political action committee Commonwealth Unity Fund invested over $1 million in Massachusetts to support his campaign. His main donors include founders and executives from companies such as Ripple, Gemini, SkyBridge Capital, Cardano, and Kraken. As of July 31st, Deaton's campaign had raised approximately $1.7 million. Previously, Deaton also represented 4,701 Coinbase customers in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to support Coinbase’s legal case against the SEC.
