The bail hearing for Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s Financial Crimes Compliance Head, has been rescheduled from its originally planned date to October 9th. Gambaryan, who was arrested in February of 2023 and has been detained since then, was initially charged with tax evasion and money laundering. However, his bail ruling was delayed due to a worsening health condition during his detention. Gambaryan's lawyer submitted a bail application, arguing that the prison had failed to adequately address his health issues. Notably, Gambaryan's status as an American citizen and former Internal Revenue Service agent has drawn widespread attention to his detention. So far, over 5,400 people have signed a petition demanding his return to the US. The Nigerian tax authority has withdrawn some charges against him, but it remains possible that he will still face charges related to money laundering, leaving him to face the court.
