Sergey Bezdelov, head of the Russian Industrial Mining Association, revealed that Russia mined approximately 54,000 bitcoins (BTC) last year, with a total value exceeding $3 billion. These mining activities contributed around $5 billion in tax revenue to the Russian government. Bezdelov stated that the recent move to legalize cryptocurrency mining is expected to attract more investors and further increase tax revenue. In July this year, the Russian State Duma passed a bill classifying bitcoin mining as a legitimate economic activity and allowing the use of cryptocurrencies in international trade. The implementation of this bill considers cryptocurrency mining as a legitimate economic activity, while requiring legal entities to register or comply with specific energy consumption limits.
