According to PeckShield monitoring data, a severe attack occurred on the WazirX platform recently. Not only did the attackers steal a large amount of cryptocurrency assets, but they also conducted complex operations to launder the illicit gains. The latest developments show that this hacker group has already processed the stolen 2700 ETH through the decentralized mixer Tornado Cash. This move aims to obscure the source and transfer paths of the funds, thereby evading investigation. The amount involved in this laundering operation is as high as approximately $6.25 million, highlighting the complex security challenges faced in the cryptocurrency sector. As a privacy protection tool, Tornado Cash confuses transaction paths to protect user anonymity. However, in this incident, it was used for unlawful purposes, sparking extensive discussions within and outside the industry about the security of cryptocurrencies.
