The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) recently announced that it has joined forces with multiple organizations including the American Bankers Association Foundation, private regulatory bodies, and other federal agencies to combat fraudulent activities in the cryptocurrency sector. The focus is particularly on illegal activities such as 'pork-knife scheme' and 'shearing the herd,' which target investors. The CFTC's Office of Customer Education and Outreach (OCEO) plans to collaborate with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other organizations to issue investor alerts to help the public identify and prevent such scams. OCEO Director Melanie Devoe emphasized that through these partnerships, the aim is to disseminate educational information to effectively prevent such fraud from harming the public.
