Paris-based Data4 company has announced plans to construct a $330 million data center hub in the Athens suburb of Paiania. The project aims to facilitate the expansion of the AI sector through an investment of approximately €300 million. Olivier Micheli, CEO of Data4, revealed that the company is in talks with existing lending institutions and Greek local banks to secure financing for the project. He stated that the facility will have significant implications for the local economy and digital ecosystem. As a company managing multiple data centers across six European countries, Data4's objective is to invest €7 billion by 2030 in expansion. Besides the planned project, the company also possesses the capability to build two additional centers on the upcoming Greek hub, which would require an extra investment of €200 million. However, specific details of this additional investment are still under negotiation with the local government.
